You Excel at:

  • Working both independently and on a team with internal clients at all levels in person and remotely
  • Overseeing a small team to achieve marketing strategies and goals through the development of collateral, proposal responses and custom content
  • Prioritizing tasks to meet multiple simultaneous deadlines
  • Communicating graphic principles, good design, and writing standards throughout the team and larger organization
  • Managing both up and down

 The Musts:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing (or related field)
  • Understanding of the A/E/C industry (direct experience preferred)
  • Experience with marketing plan and budget development
  • Strong interpersonal and proactive communication skills
  • Ability to clearly communicate how a given task or deliverable relates to the larger goals for the department and the firm
  • Mastery of Adobe Creative Cloud

 The Marketing Manager will have responsibility for four main areas: message/strategy, proposals/interviews, social media + web presence, and miscellaneous collateral.

 Strategy

  • Work with firm leadership to focus marketing message and strategy
  • Conduct competitive analyses to identify differentiators and facilitate pursuit strategy sessions
  • Act as champion for marketing database; assist market leaders in maintaining leads; maintain project descriptions and data
  • Oversee initiatives to engage with key clients and consultants
  • Direct Marketing Coordinators in identifying, targeting and completing award submittals
  • Identify strategic industry- and client-facing publications/websites and leverage custom content to broaden exposure for STG Design
  • Identify speaking engagements to present STG’s expertise to client-facing organizations

 RFPs/Proposals/Interviews

  • Interpret RFPs, gather information and facilitate the creation of new content as needed
  • Develop pursuit timeline for proposal milestones, e.g. Identify information needed, who is providing, internal check-ins and draft deadlines
  • Conduct market research to determine how to differentiate STG from competitors
  • Work with project interview teams and Marketing Coordinators to develop complete proposal drafts, ensuring that the most relevant projects are being used, content is tailored to each pursuit and pursuit leader has as much time as possible to review as needed
  • Perform quality assurance/quality control on proposals and qualifications
  • Research potential clients and work closely with PMs to create or customize a presentation deck for client interviews
  • Coach interview teams on message and style for client interviews
  • Update staff resumes semi-annually (or as needed)

 Social media + web presence

  • Create editorial calendar for weekly updates across various platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram)
    • Sidelights email campaign
      • Develop content ideas for bi-monthly campaign to highlight STG’s expertise
      • Oversee execution of campaign by Marketing Coordinators
  • Staff announcements
    • New hires
    • Promotions
  • Blog posts
    • Solicit content from design staff
  • Other campaigns (currently: throw-back Thursday, finish board Friday, fun fact Friday, travel Tuesday,
  • Review/edit content created by Marketing Coordinators
  • Research and curate content targeted at industry social sites
  • General edits to STG Design website
    • Photography / project lists / awards lists / people
    • Job Postings and intern academy page

Collateral

  • Further develop system to quickly customize targeted brochures based on project and client type
  • Create occasional one-off marketing collateral that highlights unique and interesting projects or project types
  • Coordinate with Austin photographers and attend Austin photo shoots
  • Manage photography efforts by Marketing Coordinators in other offices
  • Design promotional items as needed
  • Promote the marketing department and its efforts to STG through monthly presentations, email blasts and intranet posts
