There are many things that come to mind when we think of Russia, and one of the most well-known is their love of vodka. For over 600 years, this proud Slavic culture has used their national drink for everything from drinking to cleaning to curing the plague. Vodka is an omnipresent and constant factor in Russian history, a drink for the great and the lowly, in times of happiness and in times of tragedy.
Join SMPS Austin at the Russian House as we learn about vodka-drinking etiquette and traditions and sample some of the restaurant's house-infused vodkas, all of which are made from ancient Russian recipes with an unimaginable variety of flavors, from BBQ to lavender to jalapeño-carrot. Alongside the tasting will be a variety of small bites, also known as “zakuski.” Food is a fundamental part of any Russian vodka-drinking activity and vodka is never, ever drunk without food. (According to Russian superstition, you want to give the vodka a little help so it doesn't burn up your insides.)
Space is limited to the first 50 registrants, so reserve your spot now and join SMPS Austin in learning how to drink vodka like they do in Russia! Hope to see you there!
